Cheap is the mother.....
Disgusted at the ridiculous prices for algae scrapers ( up to $79 for plastic junk), I can make them for under a dollar each.
Bag of plastic disposable razors, straight blades, glue gun, stick of bamboo from dollar store. Pics are for the scraper. Next just glue to the bamboo. Much longer so I don't have to put an arm in, perfect angle for scrub. Enjoy. |

What happens when the glue gives out and the blade falls into a crevice in the rocks?

Looks scary...like a prison shank. I bet it works well though. I'd be afraid of me pushing too hard and popping the razor off myself. I tend to get a little careless and bump things around, or press too hard. I haven't personally had much luck with hot glue holding very well is many cases, so if I made one I think i'd use a 2 part epoxy, but that would increase the cost by a few bucks if you had to buy some.
I forget where, but somewhere in the forum there's a ghetto reef thread. This would be a perfect addition! |
