Max Time for Virtual Outlet?
Is there a way to program a maximum time a virtual outlet is on? Trying to come up with a way for the outlet to revert back to it's original state in case I manually forget or get dumb thumbs on my iPhone.

The Min Time command is typically used to keep an outlet in a specific state for a period of time. For example
Set ON If Temp > 80 Then OFF Min Time 30:00 Then ON The Temp statement sets the outlet OFF if the temp is > 80. The Min Time keeps it from turning back ON for 30 minutes, even if the temp drops back below 80.

OK, so if I made a virtual outlet named "SkimMaint" for when clean the skimmer cup how would I incorporate the Min Time to my code on the skimmer outlet? Would I add the Temp and Min Time after the Defer below, or is the Temp code unnecessary? Here's what I have so far... Skimmmer Outlet Fallback ON Set ON If Outlet SkimMaint = ON Then OFF If Outlet WaterChange = ON Then OFF Defer 003:00 Then ON

I would use a feed timer for your maintenance events, that way they will turn back on automatically after the feed timer expires and you can cancel the timer when you are finished with the maintenance.
OR You could also trigger an alarm when an outlet has been in a specific state too long with another virtual outlet like this: Outlet - Off_2_Long If Outlet Pump = OFF then ON Defer 30:00 Then ON Outlet - Email_Alarm If Outlet Off_2_Long = ON then ON This will trigger an alarm after your pump outlet has been off for 30 minutes. |

Now I'm thoroughly confused. The only reason I didn't want to use the feed cycle for maintenance was because I thought the Defer command couldn't be used. I can customize a Virtual Outlet more for what I'm looking to do. I'm just looking for a good back up plan in case of my own ignorance. Haha.
I do like the alarm/email idea but if there's a way to program the outlet to come on after a specific amount of time with the code I already have that would be perfect.

As an alternative, you could use an available switch input to connect a momentary-on push-button switch to trigger a virtual outlet.
MaintMode If SwitchX Closed Then Skimmer OFF If SwitchX Closed Then Return OFF If SwitchX Closed Then ATO OFF Min Time 45:00 Then ON You'd just press and hold the button for a second or three, then do your maintenance. When done, you can just walk away. I used this concept in my AC3 for both feeding and maintenance. Note: the program statements above are intended to illustrate the concept... I can't guarantee that they are 100% correct. |
