Genesis Renew over view and step by step installation/setup video

Here is an LA Fish Guys Tech Talk video I helped put together on setting up and using the Genesis Renew. Having been a long time Renew user myself, we set a Genesis Renew up on LA Fish Guy Jim's reef tank and recorded the step by step installation process and also covered how to use it along with all it's benefits. I hope this helps new users as well as those considering this great water change device.

slief,
great videos,

I have a Tunze ATO that I would need to set off when the genesis is working.
how can I do it?

I have everything connected to my apex controller, but I am unsure when will the genesis be doing the Water changes.

let say I have it to do 3 galons a day of WC

how can I know at what time with the genesis do the WC so that I can set the ATO off in the controller?

thanks

The Renew will break the water changes up evenly over the course of 24 hours. As such, if you start the 3 gallon water change at noon, the first one will be done at noon and each one there after will be done every 8 hours.

Slief,

one question
I just finised setting it up my new renew system and I have two problems:
1.- I programed to do 8 g WC daily, and once I jit the start bottom it does 1 g WC inmediatelly but it is not doing the other ones during the day.
2nd.- the reservoir that meters the new salt water is sucking half of the water compared to the reservoir that draws the water out of the sump. how do you calibrate the equipment so that both suck the same amount of water??

thanks for your help

Sorry I didn't see this. I don't normally monitor this thread. There is no calibration other than making sure your bins are level and the pumps fill the bins at an appropriate rate. Your metering bins should fill up in just under 1 minute. If it takes longer than 1 minute to completely fill the metering bin, the renew may time out. There are valves that are included with the renew that should go on the feed line from the pump so you can regulate the flow. I always suggest trying to get both bins to fill at the same rate. You also don't want them filling too fast as water may come out the lid. I try to set them so they fill in about 45 seconds. If you set yours to do a 5 gallon water change and it only did one, you have something setup wrong and if I had to guess, one of the bins wasn't filling fast enough and timed out. If it errors out, there will usually be an LED that will light up on the front of the renew controller just above the new water pump plug or waste water pump plug. That will indicate where to look for the issue. If one bin only filled up half way then my guess is that is the side to look at.

you can always add a float sensor in the sump at same level as where you keep water line at. attach it to apex and set its programming to where that float triggers ato is disabled till water line come back to normal.
