Killing Aiptasia Off Live Rock In A Rubbermaid Tub (i.e., not in a display tank)
Can anyone recommend things to dose (or overdose) into a tub of live rock that will kill Aiptasia, but allow coralline algae to survive?
Adding livestock (e.g., peppermint shrimp, nudis, butterflies) is not an option as there is no filtering device on the tub. 1) Joe's Juice? 2) Kalk water? 3) Lemon juice? 4) Vinegar? I'm looking for something to dose the entire tub with, i.e., not specifically target the Aiptasia. Last edited by pbnj; 12/10/2009 at 03:28 PM. |

Won't the coralline algae die in freshwater?

What you're looking for you will not find. There's only physical removal and completely killing off the rock. I'm not even sure that hypo 1.009 would do the trick. I know for a fact that "cooking" the rock in a dark system does not kill them.
