Tubular structure attached to hollywood stunner chalice?

Hello,

I have noticed a tubular structure growing up the side of my chalice. It seems to have two short tentacles that will pop out from time to time and has a single long sweeper tentacle that comes out at night/feeding. The chalice does not seem to be particularly bothered by it. It seems like I should be able to pop this off the base of the chalice, but wanted to make sure this was the best way to approach this so I don't hurt my coral.

I have not seen this before, so any advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Laura

It's a vermetid snail. Generally harmless, can reproduce rapidly if there are lots of particulates. Crush it with some pliers at the base.

agreed- although crushing may or may not work-I usually will superglue or epoxy a plug on tube,
