Thank you for the feed back.

I wouldn't mind doing so. May i ask why? I've seen all other lighting manufacturers incorporate those into fixtures. Anything specific?

Red and green are said to amplify the disco effect.

3500 is just to yellow, don't want it. Its to easy to swap out.

I believe that green looking LED is in reality cyan with 490-505nm and you want to keep it

Well, really need the red for photosynthesis. Preferably, for chlorophyll A and C2. I know too much red can cause bleaching so i'm trying to keep it at 5% of total light. I guess for me, disco isn't a concern and slightly relative when using 120 deg lenses.

Green (500-530nm) mostly cancels whites but i'm using cyan(490nm) which has a slightly high rate of absorption for that. So, i'm comfortable with keeping that out.

I think I also agree on the warm white. Though, it will help with reducing an over all windex coloration.

Yeah, i've been toying with swaping chips for several years now. Not a big deal.

490nm is cyan
500nm is turquoise
510nm is green

I placed 4 cyan in this layout.

Hi everyone.
Just got my Aqua Mars 165w for my 120 liter tank. I hung it 25 cm above water and I got a nice spread.
For next days I’m keeping white and blue channel in the minimum, trying to aclimate everything.
How many hours do you guys run your lights? Percentage of channels?

been said many a times in this thread. that light is perfect match for that tank for a display tank. zero reason to think it wouldnt work a frag tank.... that said. i have in my plans to do the same thing. 300w over a 40B as a frag tank also, but im going to change some of the leds to maximize the use of the light as a frag grow out. alot of 6500k is gonna get changed in. and also going to add some sub 420 on the actinic channel. again im going to use this light simply as a frag light, not a display, so im trying to get the best growth with the best color for the cheapest i can..just a thought

Yes use the 300w and dim it a bit. But the light spread is perfect

The warm whites in 2500-6500 have plenty of red and green spectrum in them. Having the red and green leds imo will just add to blending issues aka disco effect.

Yeah I replaced them in my 300watt units. Really easy with a good soldering iron

I just got my lights set up a couple of days ago. They are an older version that I bought about 2 years ago. I noticed that the fans run all the time even at the lowest settings. Do they do that on the newer ones too? It seems unnecessary as the light barely feel warm to the touch.

luckily the fans are quiet.

I have a 120”x38”x29” tank. 29” being the height. I was concidering the 300 watt versions for my tank. Would 5 of these work... one every 2 feet?

First question: Does anyone know a UL listed intermediate between these super cheap lights and the $650 level lights like the radion XR30w? I am finally thinking of converting over my 31" deep 300 gallon which is mainly lit by 1200W MH pendants and
a couple of T5s and LED strips, I would want a lot of light

Is anyone aware of an equally detailed study of how the par values drop off after a diffuser is put in?
