Well, so hard to say yet. It pulled out some gunk both times i added rock. More the first time when i added sand at the same time. The water was all freshly mixed so it was clean, and I've done about 6 large water changes since I've set it up, keeping the ammonia in check. And I'm not feeding the tank yet other than some Phytofeast i through in last night for the sponges and other filter feeders. So... there isn't really anything in the tank for it to skim!

I guess soon I can start adding fish starting with my clown and blue/green chromi from my old tank.

Ya, all those sponges you see in the pics came free!!! I paid for rock, sand and typical cuc. The sponges, scallops, urchin, large orange star, plants, etc all were extras!

Wow, i can't believe I haven't seen this thread until now. Your tank is gorgeous! I love the cube dimensions, the rimless, and the fact that you can walk all the way around it. I'm really looking forward to how you plumb the ATO and water change system from your garage to the tank. Take lots of pictures!

I think someone earlier asked about seeing the tank in scale in relation to me, so here ya go.
I'm sporting my newly acquired 24" Stainless Steel Forceps. Thank you, Ebay.

And here's a new video where I give a quick tour and talk about the equipment a little bit.

That's a week of stuff but most of it was from when i added the second batch of rock last week. Right now the tank is not being fed so there is really nothing to skim.

I had it running to test but right now it's off since I don't really need it yet. So can't really answer that question yet.

Hey, I see in the video that both of your vortech's are upside down in a sense. It could have a little with why your sand is like that in the corner.

Try twisting them so that the solid part of the vents is facing downwards, so its a little less flow towards the bottom.

Lemme know how that works, might be the problem, or might be nothing. I just notice on mine when its like that there is more sand blowing everywhere.

And who ended up buying the twin to your tank?

The sand that's blowing is across the tank in the corner where all the flow bounces off of. Do you think rotating it will make a difference? I figured it was the bouncing flow that moved the sand away from the corner. The top Vortech was purposely "upside down" because I thought it might suck less air from the surface of water. It's kinda close to the top. What do you think?

Someone else on Marsh bought the twin tank.

I understand why you did it to the top one, its worth a try, but do see what your saying that it might not effect it even if you do flip it. Lemme know if it has any effect at all.

Looky what I picked up today.
Going to get a second one soon.
This one will be for RO/DI making/storage and will also be my ATO container.
When I get the second one I will plumb them together and use the second for saltwater mixing/water changes.

65g, food grade.

Great video!
Thank you for going piece by piece explaining what the equipment does.
Love the dry dock area for the vortechs, that arrangement makes the tank look even more clean and streamlined.
And of course your reef tank, and sump are gorgeous in the video.

Nice storage tank! I have the same one but in a 25g. They are very sturdy. I'm debating whether to get a 2nd one for mixing salt, currently using 20g brutes. You'll have to post some pics of how you plumb it together.
