Hood needs new poly
Hi All -
Well, after 10 years or so, some of the polyurethane on my hood has started to bubble and needs some love. Any ideas on how to get my tank some light and keep my wrasses from jumping in the 2 or 3 days I will need the hood off the tank to work on it? I have a Chinese black box LED which sits on top of the hood currently. I would love to ditch the hood all together but no sump = a bunch of crap hanging off the side of the tank and the hood hides it all.

This might be a little goofy looking....but it will work.
You need two ladders, one on each side of the tank. Use a pole (broom handle?) or a piece of PVC to stretch across the top of the tank sitting on the top of the ladders. Zip tie or use some wire to hang the lights on the pole above the tank. Get some mesh netting from your local fish store and lay it over the top of the tank and tape it around the edges to hold it in place.......take a picture and post it here......you will win "Hillbilly" Tank of the month! lol |

Maybe use drop ceiling lighting grid (aka egg crate) on top of the tank? Double it up or reinforce with something if the light is too heavy for it.
