Mo's 6ftx8ftx3ft SPS Reef Tank
Here is my reef tank after a long build up time.
I have a thread on Ultimate Reef ( UK forum) which shows the build from scratch. I will try an import some pictures over, but it is still a work in progress. ...so here goes, a brief overview of my 1200G (total volume) system. Basically been running for about a year now, but had some issues 6 months ago and started adding SPS around then. The main display is 6ft x 8ft x 3ft (H), The sumps are 6ft x 5ft x 1.6ft (H) and 5ft x 2ft x 2ft (H). For Bio filtration: About 400 kg of custom built ceramic rock. I was running 11L of original NP Biopellets. I took them offline recently, gradually and parameters have remained stable. Mechanical filtration: Bubbleking 300 and 500 skimmers. 6 x DI pod filter using 2L Aquaphos Fe Phosphate remover Additives: DaStaCo Custom built Calcium Reactor with Aquamedic Hydrocarbonat and Dolomite media. When required: KZ Iodide (PIF), KZ Coral Snow, Zeobak, KZ Biomate , Zeozym. Lighting: 3x Giesemann Spectra SPS 400w MH/ T5 light units 9x Reeflux 10 000K, 400w 10x Narva Blue T5 Actinics 2x KZ Fiji Purple T5 Other: Sander 500 Ozoniser. TMC 8 x 55w UV Parameters: Ca 500ppm Mg 1500ppm Alk 7.0 dKH Phos 0.01 Nitrate 0.00 Waterchanges: These are done weekly 500L. KZ Reefer's Best /Tropic Marin Pro Reef. Flow: Custom built Tritron Power Stream x1 for total in tank circulation. Return: 2x Tritron 420. Feeding: Mix of Frozen cubes. 12 cubes per day. Occasional flake feeds. Here is the ceramic rock scape being fashioned in the factory in Germany, before it was shipped to the UK.
I adjusted it very slightly when I added it to the tank and added a few fresh live rock plates. |

Here is where it all started....
We took down the garage and got planning permission to build an extension. This would include a larger kitchen, utility room, study and tank room! Mo |
