I intend to not house all of them at the same time. Any input as to what order they should be purchased, and who can be with who would be great. Thanks.

1 Dwarf Lion fish
2 Clown fish with anenomes
1 Powder Brown Tang
1 Dogface puffer
1 Squirrelfish
2 Green Chromis
1 Foxface
1 Chocolate Chip Starfish
1 Sand Sifting Starfish
1 Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
1 Sunset Butterfly
1 Dwarf flame angel
1 Bicolor Dottyback
1 Green Mandarin fish
1 Long Spine Urchin

Soft corals only, if at all.
sorry I do not provide analysis of aggressive fish community tanks where one fish might consume a tank mate.

thanks for the quick response

how about if i swapped the dotty back out for a royal gramma?
i'll lose the cleaner wrasse and mandarin...

out of interest - i appreciate the shoaling effect won't work, but would 5 chalk bass or anthias be okay?

i like the idea of having a number of similar fish you see...?

thanks won't bother you again on the same tank after this!

out of interest - i appreciate the shoaling effect won't work, but would 5 chalk bass or anthias be okay? Depends on species of anthias but anthias in general do best with multiple feedings per day and your tank is not sufficient for a group. 5 chalk bass would work if introduced concurrently.

i like the idea of having a number of similar fish you see...? I see, but that works best in large tanks.

thanks won't bother you again on the same tank after this!
Never a problem. However for future questions, please resubmit stocking plan, tank size, and tank maturity as I cannot go backwards in this thread.

In the clam forum, please read the lighting requirements for different species of clam.

29G Corallife Biocube
25lbs of Marco Rocks.
Fully cycled.
Working on a screen lid for the top.
Soon an Aquamaxx HOB-1 Skimmer (replacing the Tunze 9001) and In Tank Media rack wth purigen, carbon, etc.

Currently have a pair of Occy Clowns in there after spending about 6 weeks in QT.

Looking into stocking the rest of the tank, and have some fish options.

Firefish (red or purple)
Tailspot Blenny
Royal Gramma
Pink Streak Wrasse
Citrinis Clown Goby

Am I able to add all 5? 4 of the 5? Any problems with compatibility? where I could pick 3 or 4 off that list and add them (probably 2 at a time).

3 of the 5 would work; given the clownfish, who will eventually become aggressive, I would suggest excluding the blenny and gramma.

I started my 75g w/ 20g sump early July with 95lbs. of dry rock with 10lbs. of live, 90lbs. of dry sand with 10lbs. live, yesterday I added 1/2lb. of chaeto to the sump. The tank finished cycling a few weeks ago. Right now the only inhabitants are 3 Turbo snails and Scarlet Skunk Cleaner shrimp. I do plan on adding an anemone and some easy corals later when the tank is more mature.

The QT should be done cycling soon so here's my intended fish list:

A pair of clowns (Ocellaris)
Flame or Coral Beauty Angel fish
Royal Gramma
Firefish
Wrasse (don't know what kind yet, open to suggestions)
Mandarin Dragonet (once the pod population is enough to support it)
and maybe some schooling fish like 2 or 3 Chromis.

I want to get the first fish into the QT as soon as it cycles, so which should I start with?

A pair of clowns (Ocellaris)
Flame or Coral Beauty Angel fish neither is coral safe
Royal Gramma
Firefish introduce early; prolific jumper
Wrasse (don't know what kind yet, open to suggestions) once you decide on species, resubmit for analysis
Mandarin Dragonet (once the pod population is enough to support it) nine months of maturity; ideal would be adding a refugium for this fish
and maybe some schooling fish like 2 or 3 Chromis. you will not get schooling or shoaling behavior in this sized tank; chromis over time will reduce their number to one and they are highly susceptible to uronema marinum so a rigorous quarantine protocol should be used

I want to get the first fish into the QT as soon as it cycles, so which should I start with?

Greetings first time owning fish tank and very excited. Currently cycling for 3 weeks.
30g shallow tank (2ft by 2ft by 1ft) and 10g sump. 35lbs dry rock and 20lbs live sand

Equipment:
aqua c evo 120 skimmer
MP10 powerhead
generic led lamp
RO/DI

I would love to have a total of 5 fish:
2x small clown fish
1 yellow watchman goby
1 blue chromis
1 x (Recommendation of any fish that can be compatible with this tank? I'll take anything!)

ALSO, I have no idea how much clean up crew I can get!
I would love 4x nassarius snails,
1 pistol shrimp
1 cleaner shrimp
4 hermit crabs

Is that enough or too much? Thanks in advance!

1 x (Recommendation of any fish that can be compatible with this tank? I'll take anything!) As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide recommendations for a variety of reasons; however I am always happy to reevaluate as long as tank size, maturity, and stocking plan are provided.

ALSO, I have no idea how much clean up crew I can get! pick snails or hermits but not both as hermits kill snails

the number and size of fish is fine subject to annotation. If you want to try again after modification, please resubmit tank size, maturity, and stocking plan.

Hello there,

I have been doing some posting around but decided I could use some help from this section on what to stock my tank with.

Current setup: 80 gallon deepblue rimless with 20gallon sump and bubble magus 5 protein skimmer. I am thinking to stick with FOWLR.

This is the largest tank compared to my last (50g). So my questions are:

Would I be able to handle a yellow tang, scopas, sailfin? I would like to setup a tang and be successful!
I love Copperband butterfly's (had one successfully fora year but stopped eating suddenly) but man can they be a pain. Im thinking of longnose butterfly instead (could I have a pair?)
Angels, love them, but not sure again like the tang if I could handle a non pygmy. Perhaps a koran angel?

Update, 90 Gallon coral/macros/mobile inverts/sessile inverts
2/pair Malacoctenus triangulatus (Saddled Blenny) 7.5cm/3in
2/pair Malacoctenus aurolineatus (Goldline Blenny) 6cm/2.4in
2/pair Priolepis hipoliti (Rusty Goby) 2.5cm/1in
3 Serranus tortugarum (Chalk Basslet) 7.5cm/3in
A bunch of mollies (I know you can't help on these, but I have them so...) 15cm/6in (max, usually around 7.5cm/3in or so)

In most cases, having two of the same species will be difficult and having multiple instantiations of a fish in the same ecological niche will be difficult.

Thank you! I also just realized that M. triangulatus and aurolineatus are generally solitary, so I might try one of each. Along with the rest of the fish. I might make another list later and see if it's any better. I do have way too much rockwork, so there should be enough space for either fish.

Ok, for my 80g how about:

x1-Tobacco Bass
x3-Blue Chromis
to start

And Possibly:
x3-Ignitus Anthias/Lyretail/Sunburst. (I guess if any would be compatible, my brother had them in a 100, and said 1 male for a few females)

a group of anthias should have a larger tank; also note that anthias require multiple feedings per day for long term success

Steve (Snorvich) must take a hiatus for a week or so. We will close this thread in his absence.

Our thanks (as always) to Steve for the tremendous service he provides to the community!
