We have a GoPro Silver and it works great. My husband uses the head mount and sometimes just holds it with the headmount strap around his wrist. Aiming with the head mount takes some getting used to, so practice before your trip or you may end up with video of empty water and just the flipper of a sea turtle

These are with a GoPro Black in Cozumel a couple of months ago.

Some pics from earlier this month in Cozumel with a gopro black. All of these pics were taken while shooting video at the same time, which a nice option with the black. Hope the link works. Oh, also used a filter, makes a huge difference.

Backscatter Flip3.1 it has 3 filters.... shallow, 20'-50' and below 50'. There is also a macro lens attachment....don't have that one yet. You can have 2 attachments on your camera at once and flip between them. I used the 20'-50' and below 50' filters on this trip. Didn't have the filters on my first trip and everything has that blue hue to it, with the filters the colors really pop, worth every penny.

GO HOGS

Used the Gopro 3+ silver in Fiji a couple weeks back. It did a great job and using it on 5 picture burst mode was quite a bit of fun.

Gopros are great. I use the 3 black with the Flip filters. Definitely need the filters. I use the extending wand tripod thing. Only issue I had is the need for extra light.

I'm cheap and use a $68 Mobius with an $18 JooVuu underwater case, doesn't compare with the GoPro but not bad for the price and half the size.

This was taken earlier this month while snorkeling in Belize.

Great pictures though they are a little green/blue. Did you use any filters? If not try a red. It works wonders as you can see in my brother videos. I believe there is even a video where he moves it off so you can see the difference.

Nah, this was my first trip with my GoPro and I had not heard anything about filters. Thanks to this thread I've ordered the Backscatter set! Can't wait to try it out in Belize in Feb.

Don't rule out Olympus Tough. I've been shooting with it 3 years now. I really like it for snorkeling. The flash is a little weak when on SCUBA.

I took this last week with a Go Pro. It takes better movies than stills.

Yea, I always run my gopro in movie mode then flip through the frames to find a good one in focus if I want a pic.

Right about in the center of the Molokini Crater, Maui HI. It's called the "middle reef" IIRC. There is a sand shelf about 50ft below us then it drops off to the 360ft floor. Amazing place. If you go there try to get on the first boat. That's when the fish are there.
An early morning find

I use a GoPro Hero3 Black with a pole + red filter if I SCUBA, this combo is perfect for me especially during snorkeling as it allows me to get down to the same level as the animals. Here's a sample video snorkeling from Exuma:

Make sure the SD card you get is a class 10, if your wanting to shoot good quality video. Some advice, buy extra batteries and 2 SD cards. I use 32g. My black edition uses almost 1 battery per dive.

I use a retractable pole which I bought at REI. It extends about 3ft

Cheers
