Chlorine or chloromines
Does anyone know if Jacksonville, Florida(jea) uses chloromines to treat the water? I'm about to pull the trigger on a ro/di system from bulk reef supply and want to be sure I get the right filters.

Most cities' web sites will have posted the test of the water. Or, you can request one online, or in person. I would get the chloramine anyway, in case they change it in the future. Here is my 300 gpd setup -

Call them. Surprisingly, there are still live people that answer these kinds of questions at all the local municipalities. I got a call back within 15 minutes when I called mine.

Nice setup you have there wildman. Looks like you have some money invested there.
Billwill- I hear ya on that one. I went on their site and looked for info with no real luck. I'll try to call them today and see if a human really does answer. |

The city website will say if they are using chloromines. You can call too.
Regardless, I would use chloromine product just in case they use it in the future, which is a high probability in big cities. I use that version too, cause california uses chloromines.

if you have a non BRS chloromine system just replace the one carbon block with the Pentek Chlorplus 10 carbon block.
Even without that a RO/DI system will remove the chloromines. There are articles out on the web to back this up. |
