What is the best way to create a backup of the programing on the Archon? Do you get another USB drive, pull the USB drive from the Archon and transfer the files to the USB backup device? I'd like to have a backup ready in case the USB drive on the Archon dies.

You can also save the files on the USB drive to a folder on a computer. If you want a spare USB drive then you can reload them from the folder on the computer to the spare USB drive. I usually make a habbit of copying the files from the USB drive to a folder on the computer after a software update to the Archon or after a major change in programming.

That makes sense. Can you remove the drive without shutting down the Archon?

Yes, you can pull the drive without shutting down. Once booted up the only thing it uses the drive for is graphing.

Digital Aquatics Archon Owners Thread

I'm having trouble with mine. Came home today to no lights or heater working. Tried accessing through the local network and couldn't connect. Did a soft reset to gain access. Turned on all the affected outlets and got things working again. Now I'm unable to reconnect to the home network. I've used a scanner to detect it on the network and no dice. This is the second time this has happened btw. I've attempted to contact DA to no avail. Any suggestions?

Mine shut down a few weeks ago. It lost connection to my network. I reset the router and was able to reconnect. Mine is hard wired to my network

Is there a new update available? My system is acting funny and on the system screen I see there is an update available. I am checking in remotely and the screens show all my modules as detached. Sounds like it’s another issue.

That’s what mine says but I see a line that says update is available. I fear the worst. Sounds like there is a glitch in my system.

I still am unable to log mine back onto the wireless network. Irma came by and screwed with my sanity and I’m just now getting back to it.

Anybody got instructions on a factory reset on this thing? My main issue ended up being a power supply and usb stick. Thanks in advance.

Can you access it? If so, log in And choose factory reset from the system page. If not, hold down the reset button for 10 seconds to force a complete wireless reset. Then access with default username and PW and reset from system.page.

I did that shortly before Irma paid a visit. I went so far as to check the usb drive for errors and replaced the usb stick itself.

I still am unable to get back on the home WiFi. I’m using an apple airport base station with wpa2 enabled. Nothing has changed on the wireless side. When I attempt to log on I see all my access points in the house so I choose the top option and enter the password, the system reboots and nada. I use a port scanning app on my iPad and can’t seem to see it on the network.

So I hit the reset button and log back in using the original wireless name and password.

Yes. Try that. I'm not familiar with apple airport. Not a big fan.

Ok so here’s a good question. Can anyone send me the full retail files? It appears they’ve taken them down.

I don't have the retail files. You should be able to get to the Archon via it's own wifi hot spot and do the reset from the system page. The hot spot will have the same webpages as it would through the network. If not then you have a very old version of software installed. The web address on the hotspot is 192.168.10.1 I believe.

I recently ordered the RK lite plus for my new 180g. At the time I ordered it I did not realize the Archon was available. I still have a few weeks before I will be ready to set up this tank. In your opinion would it be worth it to order the new controller? Can I use it with the power bars and Modules I have for the lite plus? I like the idea of being able to see what is going on with my tank when I am at work and I think this controller would allow me to do this. Can the RK Lite unit be used as a monitor with the Archon? Thanks

I see this is an older post but in answer to your question, no the RK can’t be used as a monitor w/ Archon. There was talk early on that it would be available, but that never happened to my knowledge. From what the Store looks like these days with just about everything “sold out”, I kind of wonder what is going on with DA ?
Anyone know?

The lite and modules that work with it seem to be the only things in stock now.
