It must be some kind of soft leather like Kenya Tree Coral (Capnella sp.)
or (Sinularia sp.) there are so many it's hard to say. Time will tell.

On another note
I think my Coral Beauty is nipping at my Toadstool!!!! the past few days its been open one minute.. then closed the next with "strings" hanging off and what looks like polyps at the end of these "strings" today I decided to hide in LR and watch tank (we all know fish act different when they don't know we're there) and low and behold!!! He took a nip right before my eyes!!! GRrrrrrrrrr!!! but.. it doesn't seem like hes eating it?? IDK if he is trying to get algae off of it or has decided he has a taste for toadstool polyps!! *sigh* Don't know what to do.... Suggestions??

Angels are always a risk, even pygmy angels. My coral beauty occasionally nips at the GSP, but never at the stonies. Before I got him, I made up my mind I would return him if I ever caught him nipping at the stonies. So far he hasn't, but my conditions for him to stay or go still stand. So, I guess the choice is your's.
BTW, careful with that Xenia. I have mine on an island rock, and they have eaily outgrown it and are stepping off into the substrate. I regularly sweep and get rid of several heads every 2 weeks or so. I can easily see them overgrow a rock structure and eventually the tank.

I've been trying to break the rock in half so I can sell the xenias back to lfs.. but its not that easy I don't want to hurt the unknown coral.. I may just razor blade the xenia off.. thats probably my best bet... SOoo.. Royal Beauty is still nipping at my toadstool but does not seem to be damaging the coral at all.. it just closes up.. then reopens minutes later.. I still don't know what I'm going to do.. I'm praying he'll get over this phase.. but its not looking so good
