That is common, but does show you have a good environment for it.
Some of the key elements for the change are: 1. Good Water Quality 2. Proper Diet 3. No, More Dominant Tankmates Keep up the good work...

Very difficult to do, good job! Keep up the good work because it can be dificult to get them to change completely or at least to completion.

plus your value is going up, right? I can get a juv for $45, but the adult color jumps up to $120

high-end color foods could trigger a premature color morph usually because the hormones and steroid type chemicals they use are similar to those the fish produces as it matures
many emps dont complete their change and die soon after they fade to white, my guess is it is stress related |

I got mine about three years a go it was 2"-3".
After quarantine and training to eat prepare foods and not corals or clams when in the 200G reef tank. Six months later started to change . Nine months. 14 months old about 6" long. |

Hi Zoom, beautiful emporer and tank. My juv emp is at about the same stage as your second photo. He's 4" and gradually starting to get adult colours. What did/are you feeding your emporer as I would love mine to transform as beautifully as yours |
