Hey Shih, very nice article!
Very comprehensive and it shows off your system well.
Nice job!
I especially liked the final two photos. The red acro and the ice fire are stunning!
I can't imagine having a tank burn down.. was only your tank burnt, or did you have house damage as well?

Kidding, took a bit longer.... I still am looking for a better solution for removable maintenance.
I like Your idea of wider runs with the clip connectors inside the Slotted wire conduits. (I will make that improvement).
This is a great set of before and after picture. You did a great job. Mind if I share to my friends in Taiwan?

I read an video clip from reef builder and stated that in Europe, due to space limitation, people only can afforad one tank, and no fish room, so folks like to spend effort to make the only tank to ultimate level. I think that also apply to Taiwan, Japan, Korea.

There is no house burn down (thank God). It was just my acrylic sump burnt but it cause the entire house with poison smoke and ash. The house cleaning service cost is way expensive, though.

Since then I don't use acrylic sump any more, no matter how good looking and easy to organize, even from royal exclusive dreambox ;-)

Maybe because I trimmed some darken colonies and expect their small frags can grow with better color ;-)

Haha... Honestly, major reasons I trimmed some of my SPS colonies are 1) cut darker part to stimulate their new grow; 2) wife force me to cut to let her see through dining room when she sit in living room.

So... for item #2, I probably have to keep coral grow wider instead higher. Not sure how I do that, especial I don't want to touch my green staghorn acropora. So afraid it will fall down when trimming.

Can I ask you photoperiod and % of power of your Ati hybrid?

Shih,

Wow!!! Really nice layout, and color arrangement with excellent contrast.
The Green Staghorn is perfect for the center piece.

You mentioned you changed salt. I also noticed you mentioned in the article that you do Water Changes with perfectly matched salt parameters as TANK.
I find that a challenge since most salts are higher Alk.
So one way is to buy low ALK salts and buffer up,
or another is to add Acid to bring Alk down (after aeration to bring PH back up).
What is your method to matching parameter of new Water to Tank Water?

ATI T5 (Blueplus x 6 and Aqua special x 2) turn on at 12:00 pm and gradually to 100% at 4:00 pm, 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm keep 100% and then gradually off at 11:45 pm.

ATI LED is full on since 12:00 pm to 12:00 am.

Kessil AP700 is on 100% from 4:00 pm to 11:30 pm, and I choose sea blue color.

Hope this help.

Thanks.

I only choose Zeovit and Aquaforest salt since both of them have dKH below 8, and I keep my tank alkalinity at 7.5 dKh. Zeovit in 2016 silently decided to increase their alkalinity by 1 to 1.5 dKH, I kind of disappoint of that decision, especial silently change, so I turn to Aquaforest, which also cheaper. I try not to lower alkalinity by adding acid seem I don't know it too well.

Mistake I made was choose AF Probiotic Reef Salt which has different bacteria than my KZ Bak bacteria, it somehow cause some coral STN. I original thought bacteria diversity will help my coral. Now I use AF Reef Salt which has no AF probiotic bacteria and dKH is about 7.2

When I said I keep parameters exact same as tank water, I meant alkalinity, salinity, and temperature. I did not check Ca, Mg, or nay trace elements since most of mix salt are very close to tank water if mix correctly, and Ca, Mg, trace element fluctuation seems not easy to make coral unhappy.

Cheers,

Not the coral booster but flatworm stop.

I usually once found flatworm dead body during dipping process of new coral, I will dose flatworm stop for at least 2 months.

Very nice change in layout. I like the more open spaces.
What's your thoughts about the new salt? Any noticeable change in color or it's too soon to judge?
Regards

Alex.

Stunning display of acro colors Joseph, really liking your scape and placements. That big stag in the open middle area looks ridiculously good

Love all the different colors the fish also bring to the reef, i really need to get a bright yellow fish again as nothing looks quite so cool as yellow swimming through all your acro colors.

I wish all the bloody manufacturers would just make salt close to NSW and let us decide what needs raising............. annoys the you know what out of many of us

Too early to tell, but after change to aquaforest reef salt, my coral seems happy and healthy from PE and basing view point.

The shape of staghorn grow in T5 often better than under LED, that is from my own experience and watch many video clips and photos of reefers' tanks. The equal distribute light source of T5 give staghorn chance to grow UP equally, while LED light cause its sometime try to avoid and end of unnatural shape. Water current also play big role I believe.

It is a bit upset when KZ owner told me directly that they increase alkalinity and believe that is better for their customer. Anyhow, KZ owner always honey enough when facing customer that I do admire. I am also struggle why salt maker not just simply give us salt parameter close to NSW. I think I saw some video explain that, but don't remember exactly.
