This is a couple of years old. After seeing these tanks I need to open up my aquascaping. The hammer coral in the left of the tank has gotten to be over 15 inches across and I banged it a few times. When I did a water change on the weekend I removed so much water the hammer split in half. I am going to start fragging a lot of oversized corals and make room for a new scape. When I scaped this tank several years ago there were lots of big holes everywhere but the corals have grown so much they fill in all the holes now.

This is my try on aquascaping.
The tank is a 400 gal peninsula and over 90% of the decoration is ceramic rock, made be the company Korallenwelt from Rostock, Germany. The back wall consists of three panels and the center piece is basically one single structure with some smaller branches and life rock added to it. There is a huge cave inside the central reef. Here you can see how the pieces were put into the tank, the additional branches and the few pounds of life rock still missing. The bottom is covered with a special cement, looks like coral sand but is solid. This way I can have a BB tank without looking at this ugly glass bottom. This is during cycling My last tank was also decorated with over 90 % ceramics, it was a 120 gal semi cube. After two years it looked like this Jens |
