It's completely possible the neme ate him, I would also check your sump and overflow box, and any area around the floor where he may have jumped out. Don't underestimate the ability of a fish to get through a hole that looks too small for him to fit through.

Also don't underestimate the ability for a fish to hide in a tank with sufficient rock and not be found when searching for him. Fish can disappear for days at a time in a tank only to reappear when you least expect it, so I wouldn't worry too much. If the anemone did eat him then there is nothing to worry about either as it will just digest him and add to the normal waste they produce.

How much deeper would the ocean be if it didn't have sponges?

Just curious, what type of nem do you have? I have been researching them some, and there are a surprising number of "my nem ate my fish" threads out there. I have a rock flower, which has been great. And I was considering a maxi-mini for another tank. Thanks!

Brian

+1 fish will disappear for a day or two

Do you feed your nems? If so how often and how recently?

My blenny will bury himself in the sand and not want to be found for awhile. A day later he pops out ready for feeding. I've kept bubble tips, rock flower and mini maxi with blennies and never had an issue but who knows in this hobby. Everyone has different experiences
