Brand new DOC skimmer 9006 not working

Or so it looks.

I took it out of the box, brand new, and followed the instructions. It now had been in my aquarium for 24 hours and it looks like it's not doing much.

I am aware that there is usually a break in period, which can be long for a tunze, but I was expecting some kind of sign that would confirm that it is actually working.

There is water circulation in and out of it. I can also see water circulation when I look down the collection chamber, but I thought I would see bubbles or something. I don't see even a tiny bubble. nothing at all.

I've given the blue air circulation control a few turns to the left, but nothing happened.

Is it dead?

No bubbles would mean the airline is disconnected which is not uncommon, they have to be plugged into the venturi nozzle after shipping fairly often. I would remove the pump and check that the airline is plugged into the pump nozzle. The other possibility is the nozzle is broken, sometimes if it takes an impact in shipping the nozzle will break off the pump but the airline being disconnected is the more likely culprit.

That was exactly the problem.
