Red Nemastoma Propagation Info

Thanks to a Positive ID by got2envy i now know that what i have is red Nemastoma. Some type of rareish macro algae.


I will be willing to sell/trade as soon as i see some spreading so i can keep the mother plant alive and thriving.

So, if anyone has any info or advise in how to grow this faster, better, stronger it would be much appreciated, he faster it grows the faster i can frag out to you guys.

12 gal jbj
skimmer rated for 40 gal
50 watts PC
fuge with cheato and caulerpa

water params perfect

feed reef nutrition twice-three times a week

grow lil' weed grow!!

ditch the skimmer

no just let it grow on it's own...the Caulerpa and cheato I am sure are sucking up nutrients tho, I dunno how fast this grows to begin with.
how has the growth been on it since u first noticed it?

its been in 4 different tanks now, lol
it started growing in a 30 i had about a year and a half ago when i didnt know anything about keeping a reef(15 watt t8s). then, it was in an 8 gal biocube at my work, it started to take off here, then in my 90 gal which i had up for about a month before my girlfriend was like, oh my parents are moving in june and i had to break it down, ahhhhh!!!!, and now its in my 12 gal nano, and grwing noticably larger each few days or so. tis what im thinking.

now that i look into it i have a ton of dark red algae patches growing in the tank but none have the actual colonies, yet that is. This tanks only been up for about a month so well see what happens.

excuse the color i didnt bother getting k values right on i just want to compare size.

Also, an ideas on how i can go about trimming this thing? i would like to keep some before i sell.

My prayers and dancing around the bon fire to the nemastoma growing gods are working lol

I would help if I knew how it attaches...easiest way would be to try and frag it with a piece of rock attached me thinx
