Yeah I know the stuff is weaker so I let it set longer and used less dilution. Some called for 1 gallon acid for 20 gallons of water with a dip time of 1-2 minutes. I did less blend and 7-8 minute dip time. Rock came out looking great
I just got tracking numbers for my order of rock and sand!

I ordered from reefrock.net.
I'm debating on ordering a few lbs of live rock from TBS to seed my new tank. My question is, a lot of the stuff on TBS dies off(sponges etc) so will it cause another cycle in my tank?
Should I add it to my brutes while I cure my current rock or just add it to my tank directly. I'm trying to avoid a second cycle

I would go over the plans with Richard but usually the things that will perish do well after the biological filtration is capable of handling it. You will lose a little but most people have not really had a lot of die off.

I would bet he suggests more, it is fairly dense rock so 20 lbs isn't much more than a piece or two. Do you have an eta on the tank yet?

It's a great learning experience, I envy you, I have never done it. TBS is a bit spendy for tank seeding, but probably nothing better because it arrives in better shape than any rock.

The last truly great live rock I got came from Phishy Business, but I don't know if he is bringing in live rock any more. I think his name was Serdor or something like that. Several of us went in together for a bulk buy in Saint Louis.

Yeah I live across the street from Phishy! They have some but not the selection they used to have I hear. I'll have to go over an chat it up w them....not that me there is not normal.

As far as working w the acrylic, I'm mostly going to watch but maybe help here in there, he is a great acrylic worker and I don't want to mess up his flow

Good luck on the build! I love cube tanks. Are you going with a center overflow so it can be viewed from all 4 sides?

No it's going to have overflow on back. Felt center overflow took up too much space in a tank this small and would make aquascape harder. If I had newbie's(Wayne) footprint I would go that route

That is a burden I wouldn't even myself put on you. You don't have to aquascape the tank yet.

Stand idea is I'm thinking almost like 2 stands each one 4ft by 2ft then connecting Bo stands structurally to make 1 stand but ensures have equal support down the middle of the tank. Things ideas. Pros cons

Just dipped rest of my rock. Got 50lbs of rock (dry) coming, got 80lbs of sand today. Just going w a thin layer of sand.
So here's my question, my fish are in a stock tank w barely no rock in it while my rock is curing in vats. In a week or so can I slowly add my cured rock to my stock tank, with the fish in it? To slowly start a cycle? I figure by doing it slowly I can monitor water quality and use the fish food and poop to slowly start my cycle while waiting for my tank to be finished.

You can, just go slow. The rock should not have much organics left on it but there may still be some.

On the stand, I almost did that because I wanted my stand higher than it is. My lack of proper woodworking tools at the time made the decision for me.

That seems like a good idea. Just add one rock at a time and wait for ammonia and nitrite to disappear before adding another.

Right. That's my thought too that way I can start to cycle the rock for my new tank. The fish bio load that is in the stock tank is small and by doing it slowly they should not be affected by adding of rock

I have a friend who has a pan world 50px-x. 1150 gallons and the price is great. My sump is already drilled w 1inch bulkheads too. For a softy lps tank I don't need a ton of flow. Plus I have 2 MP40wes n could use penductors on return line if needed.

Ok, I'm going to slowly start adding my current rock into the stock tub holding my fish, when he new base rock from reefrock comes in I'll add that too. Steve(owner there), says I can add it all at once to start the cycle. I'll probably do a little bit but he assures me all at once is fine.
I talked to TBS and he said the best way to do it is get my tank up n running then add some of his rock to my tank.
So now I MIT start looking for live rock online to seed my base rock and get a good start on coraline algae etc
