Bubbles..tiny bubbles..

I have a 24 gal JBJ Nano. I have had it up for a little over 2 years. I recently upgraded my lights from 35 watt to 150 watt metal halide. AWESOME difference! I am getting bubbles forming in my tank though. I checked the Chems, they are perfect. I have my MH on for 12-13 hours. Moonlights on after that. I checked my return line, no leaks. Too much light with the lighting change? Fish and Coral are thriving. My Purple Mushrooms are spitting babies out like crazy.

Ive never heard of lighting change cause micro bubbles everywhere. But I have seen return pumps get a bubble every now and then and break it up into mini's. Also have seen cyano bacteria cause bubbles everywhere especially in the substrate.

Is it possible that they were there all along and with the light upgrade they became more noticeable??

Not that this is related but 12-13 hours for your lighting is pretty nuts. I'd cut it back to 8 to 10 hours.

i cant see my micro bubbles under my t-5's but when the mh come on i see them right away. What kind of bubbles are we talking about hear? lots of kinds of bubbles out there.

I agree, 10 hours should be more than enough.

They look like little air bubbles. I basted them off last night before I turned the lights off. So far..nothing. OK, I obviously need to back off on the lights. I think I am also going to razor all the Algae I can get off, and get it out of the tank. With this Winter in the the NE this tank is saving my sanity.

Could be micro algae blooming due to the increase of light and the bubbles are O2 being produced. I imagine you would see a film however. Just food for thought.

I've had this happen to me as well. I changed from t5 to mh and bubbles formed on the rocks... Don't know what it could be...but they stay as air bubbles...so I don't worry too much about it.
