Candy cane with blackened stalk

Hey guys, I picked up this kryptonite candy cane coral over the weekend and noticed it has a blackened stalk and there are some heads that were bleached. I didn't pay attention when I got it because I picked up other stuff. I saw the sweepers out the first night but my peppermint shrimp have been bugging it (backed off it seems for now). I paid $15 for the whole thing. Will it survive? Aside from keeping water params optimal is there anything else I can do to help it along? Thanks!
