First, Your tank is awesome. I do have to ask if you Bubble Tip anemone stays put there and if so did you do anything to influence its position?

Hi Grinner,

It stayed in the same spot for many years. It did move at some point i don't even remember why. It tried to emerge through a hole between the rocks so i physically blocked it using a plastic piece. Then it moved back to its original place and stayed there ever since.

I would have to say the pictures do not do justice on how the tank looks in person. Not that I have seen the tank in person nor that anyone could take picture to show it's true beauty. It is just the simple fact that any season hobbiest can see your dedication. For those that do it I would have to say the biggest compliment I can give in a single word is "Husbandry".

Congratulations, Amir! Spectacular reef tank, what a inspiration for all reef keepers. I was so happy to see you use DSB as recommended by RON SHIMEK SAND BED SECRETS. I upgraded from BB to DSB year ago and never looked back.

Many, many congratulations on your fine tank. I especially enjoyed reading your write-up and was pleased to find your promotion of
conservation. I have a couple questions.

You mentioned that you developed a technique for mounting corals horizontally and firmly to the aquascape. Would you mind sharing your technique?

What specifically do you dislike about the Ushio 10K bulb? It has a great track record, but as we all know one bulb does not fit all tanks. Perhaps it just didn't blend with the rest of your lighting scheme?

Do you have any photos of your equipment under the tank? It must be well organized!

Thanks for sharing your fantastic tank with us!!

Hi Dude,

First of all i want to say i really like your signature, loved that movie so much!

As for your questions:

The recipe is very simple:
1. Prepare the needed amount of epoxy putty, not too much!
2. Let it harden a little for about 5 minutes(you can feel the putty starts to heat)
3. Put a generous amount of super glue on the coral you want to attach
4. Place the epoxy on top of it
5. Now spread super glue over the epoxy so that eventually you have a sandwitch of super glue - epoxy - super glue
6. press the whole thing on to the rock and wait a few minutes until it will harden, sometimes you will need to wait longer

Regarding the lamp, i think it is too yellowish in color, but i understood that there are 2 kinds of 10K BLV/Ushio, those from the US(Grey/Green pacakge) and those i bought from europe(Blue pacakge) which are more yellow in color.
Anyway i prefer their 14K which is totally white in color.

Amir.

Beautiful, Amir. Amazing tank.

I'm wondering how deep your DSB is. I should get Dr. Shimek's book (investigating for the next and larger tank setup).

regards, --Lars

It is true though that in the recent decades there are more and more Red Sea endemic creatures found in the Mediterranean sea due to Lessepsian(Lessepes was the french engineer who developed the canal) migration through the Suez Canal, fish like stone fish, and many kinds of Jelly fishes are among the popular ones.
nice tank - would say that the canal is not populating the med with red sea creatures as much as the ballasting and transiting of the vessels. lots of discharing in egypt and saudi - means alot of ballast water being taken up and back into the med.
