Is 48 watts of t5 enough for a 12" deep tank?

I am setting up a 24"x16"x12"frag tank and was thinking about getting the nova t5 2x24 watt fixture. Is this enough light for soft corals, I plan on hanging it about 12" from the tank. Thanks

It'll be enough, but I wouldn't keep it so high off the tank, closer to 3 or 4 inches.

Also, at 16 wide, 2 bulbs wouldn't give you much coverage, I'd get a 4 bulb unit.

I would put it no more than 6" above the water, preferably lower than that though

I guess this is what I expected. I haven't used t5's before so I wasn't sure. Just trying to spend as littles as possible. Looks like I will go with the 4 bulb.

for just a frag tank, these would work pretty well :

* http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=180433229028
* http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=260505846037
* http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=110457949620 - you'd need (2)
* http://shop.aquatraders.com/Odyssea-...ic-p/52206.htm

or, these i have seen get decent reviews for the lower end of the price spectrum, but you'd need (2) of them since the 4-bulb version on their site always says "out of stock"
