Thank you for sharing, Zitadel. Ive been a long time MH user, and am getting ready to try this "newfangled LED technology." I think Ill need to pick up a Seneye at some point.

Can someone explain the red and green settings.?
I've read several people saying they are for looks only. How can that be true, they must change the spectrum. And if they change the spectrum how does the kessil logic keep the proper spectrum?

Does changing the red or green automatically adjust the blue and white to keep the proper spectrum, or does it defeat the kessil logic?

I don't use the colors.

I use them as i find 17%of each red and green is equivalent to a step between the presets on the color wheel.
Currently, I feel the third blue is too dark while the fourth is too white for my liking. Setting the wheel to the third and adding 17% red and blue creates a color in between the two which looks awesome imo.

I just want to be sure I'm not skewing the kessil logic and hindering color/growth or increasing algae growth by doing so.

You're just adding red or green. You're not taking away what's already there (kessil logic).

Anyone else struggling with acros getting burnt tips/uniform bleaching on new aquacultured acros with this light? Initially maxed out at 70% for 2 hrs, 12 hr total cycle. Mounted 10 inches abouve water on 180g.

I have stable alk (7.5-8)using carbonsoder with GEO618. No3 = 8-12ppm (Red Sea Pro) and Po4 = .05-.08 PPM (HANNA ULR), tested daily over the first 3 wks of these frags.

I pulled GFO and ROX weeks early when my last wave of frags had the same issue.

So not alk flux, not lack of nutrients. Happened to 100%of the 10 acros/montis ive added, whether they were mounted high, low, or maricultured or aquacultured.

I'm going through this right now. I really don't think it's a lighting issue at all. Are you running a refugium? I'm finding that iodine and potassium are low, which could correspond to the sps burnt tips and STN? I was running Triton and I'm in the process of switching to a CaRx.
My guess, heavy metals or element(s) depletion is causing this. I'll be sending another ICP test this week, so we'll see?

4 x Kessil AP 700 over my Reef Tank which is 8’ L x 3’ W x 24” H. This tank has been up for a little over one year. All corals from frags.
I am also interested in the green and red levels that others are using for coral growth and coloration. Currently a 70 % max intensity for a four hour noon period. I started off with levels much lower during the first few months. Best to not fiddle with the settings too often. The LED’s are on for about 12 hours a day, with ramp up and ramp down periods.

Ap700 owners,

When yall buy a new frag/mini colony of acropora from a T5 only tank, or a hybrid, or a Wild Aussie Acro from Divers Den for example.

Are you having to acclimate slowly to your lights in these scenarios? And if so, can you tell me your lighting schedule and how high units are mounted? And what your No3 and Po4 levels are?

Every tank is unique I know., I am just curious from those who have grown acros from this unit solely?

Anybody using the diffusers. Been contemplating on trying them out .The shimmer dont bother me just wondering if the blended light will help with sps growth. I have 2 ap700 and a aquatic life hybrib on a 6ft 180.

I'm using the slight diffusers on two AP700's. I have a shallow tank and noticed some hot spots and wanted to tame them and that's exactly what they did for me. Reduced shimmer a little, but not too much (i love the shimmer). Lights are about 10" from the water.

I like the shimmer as well but jsince I'm wanting a dominated sps tank maybe I should blend the light more.

Yeah, if your light(s) are closer to the tank, then getting the diffusers is the best bet. If you have the room to raise the lights a little, that could be a compromise? They don't help with shadowing, but they really help to blend the light even more.

No room to raise the light I have them under a canopy.

Hey All,

I have an ap700 on the way for my 50.3 waterbox. Tank is going to be softie/lps dominated with a clam and maybe one or two simple SPS. Any suggestions for settings? Dimensions of the display part of the tank is 36" long and 14" wide. How high do you all recommend? Will I have a serious light spillage problem? Would love to avoid that. I have ran kessil a160s and am used to that spillage....is the ap700 worse?

Thanks all!
