How many LX7s for a 300g deep dimension

Vinny -

How many LX7s would be ideal for a 300g deep dimension? 72x36x27
Looking for maximum coverage with minimal shadowing. Seems like I would need 6 configured like this:

------------
| = = = |
| = = = |
------------

Thanks!

Seems like I would

Hi there,

As Slief said, 6 LX7s would be a good number. Since your tank is 36" front to back, having 6 units will provide more than enough light coverage and even-light distribution throughout the footprint of the tank.

Better yet, you'll be able to position SPS anywhere in the tank without having to worry about it not getting enough light.

Thanks Scott & Vinny! Which layout do you think would be better given that each light would be covering an area approximately 22"x18"? I plan on mounting with a ball joint so I will likely be able to run them either orientation. Seems like horizontally would be better but I have never seen the light spread. I may mount on 8020 tracks like this too, so I can adjust a bit more, using aither orientation, adjust height and angle.

They will be in a large canopy with lots of ventilation.

I would suggest positioning them so that they go with the length of the tank.
