Vertex Omega 130
had to make a stand for it since optimal water level was ~6.5-9 inches. It is sitting at about 7.5-8 inches right about now with the stand. I had 13inches prior so it just overflowed lol! also, is that where the water level/foam should be? where i detach the skimmer cup |

Here is a pick of the broken piece. There are ways to make it work by plugging it up or by drilling it out and gluing in another piece but this is what warranty is for right. So until someone says that they are shipping me the new volute on their dime this thing is back in the box. What a shame as it is such a nice skimmer otherwise. Oh and hopefully they send out either a new bracket or new screws too since that is an issue as well. As of now the email address that BRS gave me is not working even though they confirmed it for me. So now BRS is having to contact them on my behalf. Perhaps I am not supposed to have this thing.

Looks nice. Lucky you . Give it the two weeks that the manual suggest before worrying about it's settings. |

Proline to the rescue. jen at Proline is taking care of both the volute and the bracket/bolt issues. They should be shipped out tomorrow.
On a side note she called me and left a msg. When I tried calling that number back moments later all I would get was the "The number you have dialed....." She also said she sent me an email which never has come thru. Really beginning to wonder about even using this beautiful beast. Seems like something is just not wanting me to use it. Anyone want to buy a brand new 150? |

6 hours after setting it up, I got wet skimmate coming already. Today, 1/3 of the cup is filled with decent colored skimmate. gonna run wet for another day and see how dark this thing can pull. silent as well, this might be the best skimmer i've ever seen for < 200 (technically it was 199.99)

well, i broke my ozone port :-(. It seems way too fragile. I just removed the nipple from it and placed it on the pump port.

The only thing that seems fragile so far is the ozone nipple for some reason. It seems quite sturdy otherwise. Well for the little bit I have handled mine so far lol. I would think that if they did not ship the red tube already connected to the nipple it would not be breaking during shipment. |

mine was shipped disconnected and was fine. It broke after i was trying to disconnect it. it seems like something you should never remove once connected because of how fragile it is.

So how long are people breaking this in? I ran mine with the collection cup on and the first night it overflowed and it was spritzing salt water into my sump. So I've taken the collection cup off and I'm breaking it in. I've had mine in the sump since Tuesday night.

Mine started breaking in at 6 hours and flowed in 1/3 of the cup. by 2nd day it was more than half full. I emptied it and adjusting it properly and it's getting some pretty decent skimmate.

Excuse me, is this thing on ?
Wow.... This skimmer is extremely quiet ! Just got mine yesterday and just finished setting it up. No vinegar for me just running it in the sump. This skimmer is well built. I didn't have any problems with damage and I was able to easily twist the ozone tube off off the nipple. So for now I'm just letting it break in with the vent tube about halfway open and collection cup on. What depth is everyone running at ? Mine is sitting in just about 8" If this skimmer turns out to be as good as advertised, I might have to sell my brand new xs-200 and pick up an omega 150.

I'm using a tunze for my return pump so that's dead silent. A pair of tunze 6095 a slight hum there but not much. To be honest the only thing I hear is a slight trickle of water draining into the sump.
The air draw on my xs-200 extreme with psk-1000 sicce is louder than my entire 40b tank.

The pumps for these are using Sicce Syncra Silent motor blocks so it is no surprise to me that they cannot be heard. I have 2 Syncra 3.0's on my system. One is my return and the other is for my closed loop. I have no doors on my stand and yet cannot hear either pump.
