That would work, dont do it though unless you really like the idea of a wave. The tank will be a lil odd without the wave, but even without the wave the extra lip will help with fish jumping out and splashing water.

Depending how you want to make the wave you will have 5 options vortechs will not work on 1" acrylic.

If you wanted to go with the vortechs and 1 inch acrylic you would need to have one panel made from 3/4" acrylic. or a false wall built in with a dryside it can be done though.

1x vortech mp40W

1x tunze wave box

2x vortech mp20w

2 x tunze nano wave box (not out till october)

2x tunze controllable stream pumps hooked to tunze multi controller

Dudester has a AGE rimless and he has a 2 inch lip that is perfect for the wave.

Just wanted to post pics of the new tank...water level is at 15.5" Eventually there will be mangroves growing out of the tank. They are just acclimating to saltwater now.

I consider anything below 20" shallow.. or if the height is LESS than it is deep. My definition is 'If your hand can reach the sandbed, it's shallow'

Great, I'm glad to hear! I emailed him this morning giving you credit for the referral .

I've seen some nice looking tanks at 30x30 as well as suggestions to build that size. I'm wondering what the benefit is and if I should get that size instead of 24x24. I must add that I want to run a single 250w HQI so if going bigger would require a second light then its a deal breaker for me. The tank would be all SPS

Cham a single 250W pendant will work perfect for 30x 30 but it would be good to get a good pendant like a lumenarc

Although my tank isn't quite as developed as Bobby's/GSM's and many of the other systems shown here I still wanted to contribute some photos of my shallow reef. It is a sump-less 40 breeder which I believe measure 36x18x18. I really like this thread. I would also like to read the thread to Saldarya/Bobby's tank and the zeo system so if anyone has a link please post it.

Hey GSM, Thanks. That sounds more correct...it was late and I didn't feel like looking up the exact dimensions. Thank you. Your tank looks great and thanks also for starting this thread.

Bob1, if you are asking me... the dimensions are 36"x18"x16" and it is a standard aquarium from a LFS (I believe from All-glass). For filtration I have a HOB Refugium, a HOB Deltec MCE600 skimmer, and a little HOB power filter mostly for circulation (and also where my ATO drips into).

Wooo, shallow is great!

coralfarm123, what is the glass thickness on your tank? I've been looking into a 96"x12"x8" for a while now.
