Duncan placment or help
Just put in a Duncan frag about 3 days ago but I have noticed it either stays closed or barely opens? I have it closer to mid level in tank and I don't believe its in a high flow area. Any help on what I should be doing with this guy?
Salinty is 1.26 , calc just over 400 and alk right at 8. Have acans, chalice, montis and etc in take doing great. this Duncan has me stumped, I thought they where normally an easier one? |

I've seen duncans in lower light and flow areas, such as under an overhang or tucked up near the entrance to a cave.
It may just need some time to settle in. If it's not receding, maybe give it time. |

My Duncans will keep some heads closed that do not get enough light. For an LPS they are a bit finicky. Mine like it best at 1 foot down directly under kessels, med random flow.

I have mine mid way up the tank in a high flow area and it's always open, even at night for some reason.

Low flow, moderate random, high light, low light, what they don't like much us being moved. Pick you spot and don't touch.
Mine middle of tank. |

I keep mine half way up in the tank and in lower flow and it is thriving. I'm lighting my lagoon with a kessil a360

I notice mine closes up for days at a time if something bothers it... My tuxedo urchin at times brushes against it. Yeah, just don't touch it and see it emerges soon

This.... I have found that they don't care where they are(high light, low light, high flow, low flow), they will adapt to their situation. What they don't like is being moved around. Just give it a few more days to adapt.
