Yeah, Wayne is right. LeeMar stopped the aquarium manufacturing for the same reason Sunlight Supply, Reef Geek and others did. Too little reward for a lot of work! LeeMar is a small company and I'm guessing the principals felt that the time spent on this part of their business was not worth it.

LeeMar also saw their aquarium sales decline over the last few years because inferior competitors offered cheaper aquariums and consumers chose price over quality. This same thing is repeated over and over in all industries and consumers sometimes come back around to wanting quality for a marginal cost increase. It's a major bummer loosing LeeMar but if demand is high enough I'm sure another company will pop up to offer a similar quality product.

My Leemar 8x3x30 is the last tank I ever bought. Looks like my tank just got a better resale value

^^^Or dropped in resale value because Leemar isn't in the business of making and probably repairing them anymore. Can go either way...

A tank of that size isn't going to be getting repaired often. I have never heard of leemar coming to the house to repair anything

For what they offer their tanks are very well priced; I'm sad to hear of the news.

I've seen a couple leemar tanks in person. They are insanely well built. Pricey? Sure. But it's a quality product.

The good news is that if you already have a Leemar tank they still taking care of warranty work if needed. I'm glad I got mine when I did, I could not be happier with it.

So who's the local go-to for glass now? Any regional suggestions besides Visio & Cadlights?

Don't use cadlights for custom tanks. I have a custom cadlights and the worksmanship is subpar.

I've heard that with them. I've heard mixed things on Visio, but don't know of one that I have seen in-person so I can't judge for myself yet.

The Leemar news threw a wrench into my plans....

Agreed!

Leemar used to be cheaper then Visio and only slightly more expensive then Cadlights.

Definitely a blow to the local Southern California community.

Yes Visio does Rimless, but they are more conservative on sizes they will do and 20% more than Leemar was at least on my quote. They would not build my 400. They do make nice tanks though.

I have three Leemar tanks and wish I could get one more so they all match in my fish room. I wish they would reconsider and this Reefer misses Leemar already!

If you're in so cal, a friend told me to check with Aaron at SPS Coral Store. He is picky about tank builds for his customers, and would recommend only high quality builders.

Leemar is just a brand name. We need to find out who's their master builder and where's he going?

SCA seems like they make some nice rimless tanks, reasonable prices too.

Are you talking about Keith Grandt's tanks? I've been looking for his contact info. Is he still building tanks?

Randy is the master builder at Leemar. Even if he's going to Visio (aka Advance Aqua Tank) doesn't mean he can build it the same way he did when he was with Leemar since they will require him to do it their way. Take for example, AAT doesn't do zero bleed silicone seam like Leemar. This is where they remove excess silicone all the way to the edge of the glass. Still, I've seen AAT tanks in person, still very very nice work.
