Many tanks get a bloom of them that usually goes away. You could try to wait it out or a dilute h2o2 dip should knock them out without killing the GSP. Try 4 parts tank water to 1 part drugstore hydrogen peroxide for 2 minutes. Do it at the end of the day so the coral can recover overnight.

Coincidentally its 10mins before lights out... Gave it a dip. They're still there...will they die instantly and disappear? Or does it take time for them to die off?

If the first one does not work give it a few days. You can try upping the concentration a bit. Dipping in H2O2 is not a gentle process for the coral, it needs time to recover. You can try to pluck them off as well.

HP dip is ok for zoas in my experience. It does hurt them but they have bounced back fine after a day or 2. Good way to clear algae off of a plug with polyps. It is not a good idea with any stoney coral, not sure about leathers.

Well I dipped it last night and most of the hydra's seem to have disappeared. its scary to see what came out of the gsp including 2 crabs and a yellow bristle worm. Gsp still is closed up and im not confident it will ever recover.

Does anyone have a trick to getting rid of unwanted GSP? I had to let my tank run on cruise control for about 7 months because my 9 yo son was going through Chimo. (He’s fine now)
Now I have GSP all over where my SPS used to be. I’m in process of redoing my tank and I’m trying to figure out if I should replace the rocks or is there anyway to save them? |

When it is thick/old enough I have been able to just peel off large sections of the purple mat, and then scrape off the rest, IME it has a hard time growing back quickly if there are no actual polyps left... but given enough time, it will. So it may take two passes with some time in between.
Manual methods are really the only choice without "resetting" the effected rocks.
