OT - looking for round styrofoam cooler for river
Does any one know where I can buy one of those round stryrofoam ice chests that sit in the middle of the tubes. Going tubing tomorrow and those are the most convenient but can find them anywhere.
Thanks, Jason |

i would recommend getting a regular cooler then shoving it in its own tube. be sure to support the bottom of the cooler so it doesnt fall through.
those styrofoam coolers never last and always break. |

there is a five gallon bucket with a styrofoam cooler insert at biglots.... looked pretty cool. i went tubing a week ago and a regular cooler works great, just wedge it right into a tube. if its a snug fit you dont have to worry much about it slipping through

You can rent tubes specially made to fit most standard size coolers.
Or. you could just tie your cooler to a regular tube. But yeah, with as low as that river has been lately, I would NOT trust a styrofoam cooler to hold up well at all. I have a hard enough time keeping my tailbone from breaking in that river. |

The styrofoam cooler I am referring to is not one of the cheap ones that break. It is made for the river and I used to have one that lasted many trips but can't find them any more.
Thank you to everyone for all the suggestions. |

Some of the Mesa Walgreens and the Salt River Tubing Indians carried the round styrofoam coolers that go in the tubes but as of 8/3/12 they are ALL out. One wallgreens (Power and McKellips) told me the manufacturer has a broken mold and isn't making any more this year. ya got to improvise until they make more. Salt River indians said they rent a tube with a bucket in it for $15 with a driver license for deposit. No lid thogh so bring a towel to cover your ice.
