Reviews on illumagic LED light

My LFS recommended these lights as a leading brand in reefing for my sps tank.
I havent heard of these until today and he also gave me a demo.
They look ok. But I also wanted to see what other people thought

Are there any user out there wanting to shed some light on this?

These lights are very good at growing even your most light demanding corals. Is the model you are looking at the s or x series? Both are great at growing although the x is Bluetooth. They are very pricey and similar to a radion. I believe I’ve had better growth with this light on my 2ft cube then the radion xr30w gen 4

Have fun with illumagic.most places in the US stopped carrying them due to lack of demand..ie-champion lighting
orphek seems to be a much better choice...

I dumped the Orphek compact for the Illumagic Blaze x 90. Orphek is a good light that needs a diffuser. I was never able to get rid of the disco ball effect during my ramp up and ramp down and the software kept reverting back to acclimation mode. It is a very good light for growing corals in spite of those gripes. Most people that get rid of them do it because they can't stand the disco ball effect. Mine didn't seem that bad but if you are used to a kessil like shimmer, Orphek isn't it. With a diffuser and better software you would have a winner. Do I also need to add it is ugly?

As far as Champion Lighting dropping them I would say it was more a lack of promoting it. Reefbuilder$ has now done a few videos on it. Uniquecorals.com is now their main US distributor. These are solid proven lights in Australia and Asia. Easily user upgradeable and comes with a 2 year warranty. I'd take it any day over a Kessil or an Orphek. I don't know about Radion g4 pro because I never used one. It uses 25 watt clusters spread out so you get a better light spread. It is a very solid choice imho. I will update in about 6 months but I already know the growth and color will be there.

I was laughing to myself because Baydo answered a 4 year old post. I've been there done that.

I am in the same boat on the Orphek and agree 100% with your assessment. I posted about the disco effect in another forum and got flamed. I could literally see the individual LED color spots on my rock and tank bottom. And, I had it mounted at 15 inches AWL.
