I would suggest the 4000. I have the 3000 on a 56g w/ 20g sump and I think it's just right. The range of flow rates is great, certainly adjustable to your liking. With the 4000, you will likely be using a lower setting than you would with the 3000, and I bet that will result in a lower noise signature (however, I must say I find this pump SUPER quiet, can't hear it over the 120mm fan cooling my cabinet).

The dct has had quite a few improvements over the older DC models that eliminated some of the concerns people were having with rust power draw and noise. The major con I find with any jebao gear is the controller box where the electric plugs in tends to spark and is a fire hazard. I have a new dct8000 thing's very quiet but still new. Controller is the same as my wp25 which I have had running over a year with no major issues other than the flow drops way down if you dont clean it every 2 months. The power plug is just flat out scary I've seen some insane sparks fly out if you toggle the cord. I'll be switching brands just due to that. The dct cord makes some freaky sounds if you mess with the wire. One thing with any return pump is consider the power draw because this component is running 24\7 and saving a few bucks to the pump can make you pay out to the power company. The new jebao seems to be reasonable for power consumption though. I was suprised go see the new vectra takes 130w which seems very high.

I've been using a jaebo 3000lv for 1 year now. It's been a nice little pump. The controller is convenient. Having had jaebo powerheads die on me within a couple years I'm wary of this pump though and have an eheim 1262 ready to go which I will likely install and use the jaebo as a backup. It sure is quiet though

I have not tried running mine outside the sump. However, I can tell you that my research suggests that these are best used in sump. The have a tendency to leak when used externally.

What size tank are you using the 15000 on?

My total system is 1000gal. My sump is in the basement with about 15ft of travel and 10ft of head involved. I have a Dolphin pump now that I have used for years... I have throttled back or it would overflow the tank,...so I'm guessing I would have to run the Jabeo at a lower speed...I want to try a dc pump to see what king of power savings I would get.

I hope this is enough for your system. I use the DCT12000 on my 300 gallon system with about 5ft of head pressure and it is perfect at 100% power. I have considered getting a DCT15000 so that I can tee of for my biopellet and GFO reactors instead of running a separate pump for those. Let us know how it works for you.

In my experience Jaebo is king of the 6 month era....after that....who knows how long it will last. I have never used Jaebo and "long term" in the same sentance.

I'm one of the people that's had a great experience with these products. I've had a DC12000 as my return pump for over a year on my 225g. It runs great and silent. I clean it every 6 months. I also use two RW15's and two RW8's as circulation pumps. Work great and I clean them about every 4 months. I've got a DC3000 running my reactors. I will continue using these products.

i use various jebao dc pumps. i recently bought the last batch of the dc not dct versions as they still can be controlled with the apex 0-10v input. love them. service them every 3 month. have the return pumps seated on foam padding and the return is running silicone tubing to reduce noise. cant hear them at all. for the price unbeatable.

i will look into the ecotech drivers in the future doh. good procing and top control and quality. :-)

fish-street even has a new dc pump on their website now. got their newsletter last week.

Guys Nothing Last forever and simple if you can get this pump for under $150 then just buy 2, This was if it does fail you will have an extra pump ready to go! There are too many reviews stating the quietness of this pump and lower power power consumption with people saying they have used this pump for over a year. Sound like it could be at least worth a shot to purchase.

As an update, I posted back in January that my DC-6000 had been running a little over a year (my 2nd, after the first one died in two weeks). It's now been almost 2 years and still running strong.

I'm using a DCT9000 as my return pump on my 40 breeder with 20 gallon sump. It's on the lowest level. It was noisy at first but I switched to vinyl hose and used some silicone pads to sit between the pump and where it touches the sump. It's a lot more silent that the Sicce Syncra pump I was using before and I love how it starts up slowly instead of on at full blast.

I am using a dc3000 to run my reactors. This is a little more noisy but still better than the Sicce. This could be because the reactor cables are touching the sides of the sump and my cabinet is wooden. Im planning on switching to silicone tubing to silence the pump a little.

Just to update, I've got 3 old DC12000 pumps running for more than 18 months now. Two are in sumps. One is a 400g system with a chiller in the backyard all run off one pump and the other is a 250g system. The third is run externally on a closed loop with an OceansMotions and a 6' head. They have all run issue free 24/7. The external pump has never leaked and still runs dead quiet and fairly cool... cooler than the giant Reeflo pump I had before that cost 2 times as much and made too much noise as well!

I just pulled the OM out of service as it needed new magnets in the drive unit so I looked into the external DC12000 pump as well. It looks almost new, inside and out.

And just so you know I'm not a big Jebao fanboy, I have used a number of Jebao wavemaker pumps and I have not cared for the failure rate. The only saving grace is I got them in a big group buy and they were dirt cheap. I'll probably switch to a gyre or two when the next Jebao WP40 fails.

I just started running a DCS12000 and it's super quiet... puts my old Sicce Syncra HF to shame. I already have two WP40s so I'm used to the value versus longevity conundrum. So far, Jaebo is winning out.

I'm using a DCT 9000 and a DC3000 for 9 months now and both have been running without a hitch, I'm about to disconnect them for their first ever full cleaning.

I purchased my DC9000 (generation 1) in Jan of 13. It has been running on two different tanks somewhere around 60% as the controller at the lowest setting runs the pump at about 40% of max (assuming linear curve which is probably unrealistic. This was my main return pump.

That being said, it just died (controller IN the pump).

So I ran it for almost 24 months without issues, including FOD jams (aka snails in the intake).

I'm looking at one of the newer DCT or even DCS (may aqua engine from Reef Breeders) but haven't decided.

I have had other pumps (all AC) run longer but produce much more heat. As the main pump is one of the key components, I always try to have a backup somewhere.

I probably have enough back up stuff to start another tank. Hmmm, Honey I need to go to fish store

After a few months use the dct 8000 is leaking large ammounts of stray voltage. It could be because I adjusted the power higher that I am now noticing it. Fish street will not replace it.

My tanks is overall very quiet but tje DCT12000 would generate noticeable whining sound and volume would goes up or down depending on the % output.

Just came across this thread. I have had a DC12000 running about 2 years now. It has been ran both external and internal with no issue at all. With my latest tank build I actually took this pump and moved it to my mixing station outside running externally and got another one for the new tank. For the people saying you cant control it on with your apex, I have read a few articles on how to do it and looks to be done the same way you would wire up one of the WP pumps.

Reading along as I am looking for a lower wattage higher flow pump. I have had 2 Jebao RW-8's for well over a year now that replaced 2 wp-40's. Never have had any issues with these pumps at all.

Can anyone tell me what the actual wattage is on a DCT12000 in use at approximately 70-80%? my current Sicce Synchra Pro pump is using ~94 watts. It's quiet and all but it is just a little small in that it takes some doing to get my dual reactor to start. My return tees off to a small fuge and reactor. I originally had a Sicce HF10 on this tank and it was a bit too much however the Synchra Pro 1900 is not quite enough.

Looking for higher flow with the same or less wattage.
