Please Help! White Finger Leather!
I bought a White finger leather yesterday. It looked beautiful in store. It had been in store for about 1 month and doing great! I brought it home last night and it seemed to be fine. Late this aftenoon it started turning Yellow and kind of loosing tissue at the base! My water paramiters are perfect. The star polyos are doing fine. They were also purchased last night.
Any Ideas? This is my second attempt to keep this coral! |

Just adjusting. The "tissue" loss is slimming probably. Defensive mode. Run carbon for the sake of the other corals in your tank. Once he adjust to your light he will be okay.

Normal, when soft corals ( leathers ) become stressed out they will slough off a slim coat, this helps remove algaes and other pesky organisms that may be growing on them.
BTW are you sure it is a true white leather, many lFS will sell you bleached out leathers claiming that they are some rare species, as they mature in the aquarium they should regain there natural colours, this happened to me. |
