Can you take fake reef rock and turn it into live rock

I have 10 pounds of live rock in my nano reef tank along with 5 pounds of fake reef rock that is white. Will the fake rock turn into live rock over time?

yes, over time dry base rock will become live when introduced with live rock.

There's "dry" rock, and then there's "live" rock. What do you mean "fake reef rock"?. Do you mean the plastic decorative rockscape?

fake rock implies it's man-made, not natural, i.e. synthetic plastic, stuff like that.
IF you mean dry rock, i.e. natural rock just not "live" yet, yes, it can.

its a fake porous type rock and its white. I read online that any porous type fake rock can be turned into live rock with all the bacteria, algae, coralline, etc...

fake rock and dry rock are two different things. Fake=it's not really rock, it just looks like rock.
dry rock= rock that is not live. It's real rock, just not 'live' rock.

if it's dry rock, again, yes it can be seeded and will eventually turn live.

anything in reef tank for a long time will turn LIVE in terms of live sand, live rock and ... lol
even if its made out of plastic.

usually they refer to fake reef rocks as calcium carbonate rocks. (just what this wholesaler around here calls them so might be the same thing) not that many holes through it, so means lower biological surface.

yes it is a white porous type rock that was in the decoration section of the aquarium store. Will it turn live over time and be covered with things like sponges, coralline algae, etc...
