I agree with this for the most part. My cheap refracto will read around 0.003 after being calibrated with 35ppt solution however my nice Vee Gee unit is dead on 0.000 after calibration and has yet to need calibration since then (checked often with both 35ppt and RO/DI). Very nice unit and much easier to read (for me at least) too.
