I've been doing a little research on the net and the closest I can find to my coral is Symphyllia species maybe S. wilsoni. Any thoughts?

Very hard to tell from pic but with the open walls you are not far off on your initial thoughts.

Thanks for the response. The skeleton was showing all around the edges when I got it but it's gradually improving. It'll be nice to see how it develops and any colour changes.
