Montipora confusa orange, keep its color?
Hi
I just saw a frag of a Montipora confusa orange, with red polyps. i Was wondering, is there any way, to tell if it will stay orange, or if it will become red over time? |

is it a wild, aquacultured, or maricultured colony? most of the time wild and maricultured colonies change color over time. this doesnt mean the coral will turn ugly, but can change. even the aquacultured stuff will change some from tank to tank. it depends on the conditions it is in now versus the conditions in your tank.... but for the most part most of my montis have held their color

im gonna say prob not a confusa as well. i also noticed that its not a what you see is what you get coral... with that being said you may get a frag that looks nothing like what you ordered. i have been down that road a couple of times. it also looks like the pic was taken under a much more yellow light than normally used which would make it lood more orange as well. here is a link to a pic of a confusa. http://www.reeffarmers.com/limitedmontiporaconfusa.htm
if you want a good frag of an orange monti that will hold its color i would check out frags.org and look for member name tfp. he has an awesome monti that is orange and will hold its color... i know because i bought one from him and mine has held its color!! its the vesuvius monti. here is a pic |

The picture looks more like a M danae than a confusa. Good looking coral but if it is wild/mericultured, I would think it may actually turn brown on you over time.
