T5 question
Would a T5 fixture like this work if I was to put different bulbs such as 2 actinics and 4 10,000K bulbs? Would the aquarium bulbs fit? http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-2-4-6-or-8-L...QQcmdZViewItem

Kind of hard to say as the closeup pics are not very clear. T5's are cool (I use them) but they require well designed reflectors to live up to their performance.

It should work ok with replacement bulbs. However, it's a cheap hood so don't expect it to have as sturdy a build or as good reflectors.

I'm not exactly clear whats being sold there. The picture is of a 6 lamp fixture, however it only includes 2 bulbs, and you can't fit 6 bulbs with seperate reflectors into the 8 3/4" width that they specify. If you go to the bottom and click on the 6 lamp fixture, that one is $225.
I don't see any reason why the fixture itself won't work. The ballast should drive any T5 HO lamp. This fixture won't have the waterproof end caps, so don't mount it too close to the water. If you get the 6 lamp unit, find out what the width is and make sure it will fit over your tank. |

Agreed about the reflectors.
But these 'do' appear to have individual reflectors... I'm not sure about quality... or reliability. I mean, the 2 year warranty is great.. assuming the company is still in business... I tracked them back to: https://www.htgsupply.com/about.asp I'm tagging along to see if I can convince myself to buy one John.
