MR5 GFO/Carbon problems

I recently set up two MR5s, one with GFO and one with carbon. Neither of them were filled all the way to the top. After turning the reactor pump on the carbon and GFO pellets came shooting all the way out of reactor. The pellets seem to be able to get through the foam filter. I am using both the mesh and the foam screens. Do you have any advice on how to keep the media in the reactor?

when you 1st start up the reactor use the ball valve to slowly allow the reactor to fill so that the media doesn't rush to the top, if the media goes to the top just shake the reactor a little bit till it settles back at the bottom.
