tangs eating off rocks?
i was just wandering that if i was to go 2 days a week with out feeding the tangs if they would be able to "fill them selves up" with the algae that is on the rocks?
now i understand that tangs need a varied diet and they do get that. the main reason i ask is i am starting to notice that there is starting to be a build up on the rocks. the tangs pick at it all day long and i was hoping that if i feed 2 days less that they would eat more of the algae.... what do you think? |

IMO I wouldn't starve them just to get them to eat algae. Keep em happy and feed em the good stuff

I only feed my tank every other day. I don't really see a problem with it. My Kole tang, Yellow tang and coral beauty graze all day long.

I feed my tank every other day - sometimes every three - or fours days (OK, getting into some confessions here ). I feed a different food each time (frozen, formula one, two, pellets, etc). I also only give a veggy clip once a week. My bristle tooth tank and LMB graze all day and are nice and fat. In fact, I have never seen my LMB take any prepared foods.
He should be fine, just keep an eye on his general health.

i dont think they would be starving if they are eating off the rocks.
like i said they are getting a very good amount of food everyday. the more i think about it i dont think that it would hurt anything. afterall they are in the ocean and dont have any one feeding them prepared foods.

In the ocean, most tangs just cruise and pick at the rocks every few seconds.
