Nice... I thought about getting the dual for mine but saw something that might be better.. its the FM2 which is the Digital Filter Monitor with Volumizer. It beeps when a cartridge needs replacing and other specifics.. it's pretty cool toy.

Very nice add on. I'm thinking of updating my entire Rodi system since mine is 6 years young . I use the old method of water in a cup and my Tds meter .

I was looking at that myself...the only problem I foresee is it can only be set at a time interval not on a TDS reading....the problem I have and many others is sometimes my filters may last 3-4 months or only 2-3 months based on a TDS reading because of the condition of the water going in which is effected by many things such as the water district doing work....if they made a monitor that reads a TDS reading and creates an alert when high I would definately be in...

Your right Mike... I read more into the FM-2. I guess it would be great to also add the dual TDS meter aswell. I, like Afernandez, do the cup thing.. or when I notice the flow ratio changes. Then I go nuts trying to figure which one it is or refer to my log book to see which was changed out. Usually for me it's one of the two sediments (5&1) or the carbon block that go with-in 3-6 months.
For me, I see this meter as a plus because I'll know exactly when to change out a cetain cartridge by the countdown(volumizer) visual & audiable alert. Queens residents, at least I hope we don't, may not have that issue with the water supply. I've never recieved a letter or call telling me about changes made. Other than what I hear on TV sometimes for certain residents to boil the water.
I didn't know L.I. residents had that issue with the municipal water suppy changing from time to time. Are you guys notified before hand when any changes are made(letter or phone call)? I'd presume it's only certain areas and not all of LI.

Who's doing the group buy??? Larry, Harry? I know on Tuesday's they start, and they end the following week. We'll also need ten people if I'm correct....?

I'm never notified of any work etc.. the only time I was notified is when it actually made the news in which some contaminents got into the supply. Any work to any of these old pipes will dislodge rust, sediments and other deposits. I did get a water anaylsis when I requested it, but those measurments are taken at the source not at my house where I'm on the end of the line picking up everything along the way.....

I looked at Larry's link yesterday, and I saw that spectra carrys and sells prefilters to add to our existing RODI's. Not sure if BRS does. Do you think that may help in prolonging the lives of some of your cartridges.
I'd presume that this usually would happen Spring - Fall that you go through these issues and have to change them more frequently?

Adding sediment pre filters is always a plus. The more stuff you can catch before it gets to your membrane, the better.
As for a group buy, I wasn't really thinking of anything that formal. I figure we get together those of us that want one, and split shipping. I hate to wait on stuff, but if someone wants to set up a group buy, I won't complain about having my item shipped directly to me at a discount

I'm sticking with my system, but i like Larrys pre filter idea. I'm thinking about having a 2 canister sediment filters before my 5 stage. I already have a booster pump so not too concerned with water pressure. Nice thread guys

I just got my new dual TDS meter from BRS.

Something must be wrong. The IN ppm is 36 My OUT ppm is 17. My RODI unit is brand new. If any local guys can come over with there TDS Meter to compare that would be great. Hoping the TDS Meter is out of calibration not that I filled my tank up with crappy tap water. My number is 917-683-8441 Thanks Joe

Thanks Noel for coming over and figuring out the problem. Works better when you actually install the RO membrane. LOL. The TDS meter is now reading 0 PPM. I have a lot of water changes to do. Poor fish. Thanks for the sps. I hope it survives.
