It may of been moving and lost its grip and was blown by your flow. And why it's done this who really knows it would be a guess. Change in lighting, flow etc? |

Did you move the powerheads even the slightest bit before it became a drifter? Had mine move twice. Both times were after a powerhead shift. She didn't care about the acros needing a little movement too.

Not deep enough sand. They like to withdraw completely under the sand with no trace that they are there. At least 4 inches of sand needed.

Sand bed is not deep enough.
Most humane thing you can do is take back to LFS. I tried to re-scape and put more sand in to give my LTA a deep enough base to be happy but it did not make it. Parameters were much the same as yours and the nem stayed put for a few months before it became unhappy, finally moving under some rocks and passing away.

The sand on that half of the tank is about 4 inchs... the shallow spot to the right is where she was before.. that's the left over divot from her foot and body..
Lfs I got it from is petco.... nothing humane about that place.. I have been slowly turning up my powerheads... Maybe she got too much flow and that's why she got upset? Sent from my SM-S907VL using Tapatalk |

That would be my guess. They like just enough flow to make their tentacles sway UP from indirect water flow. Anything direct or that makes the tentacles sweep from side to side, in my experience, they hate. Best of luck.

I've got a 90 rr DT.. with 2 jabeo pp4 pumps. So it's a relatively low flow tank (softie and lps tank) Even with the pumps at full power the flow is pretty slow everywhere.. except near the powerheads.. She has been opening all the way up at night.. and opening mostly up during the day.. but still under the rocks.. but most of her tenticals are in the light.. so at least she is getting light to her. Also.. I tried to feed her a krill last night.. tenticals aren't as sticky as they used to be.. and she didn't eat the krill.. normally the krill is gobbled up in a few seconds... she just held on to it for a minute.. then let it go.. Mouth has been closed ever since the night I posted this.. And she is still hosting her clown fish. My Rbta is doing fine.. happy and hosting my male clown.. so I'm pretty sure it's not a water quality issue Peramiters are stable and the same as I posted above.. Phosphates are down a little lower Sent from my SM-S907VL using Tapatalk |
