Washing Filter Socks

Hello. I just got a batch of filter socks in and I have heard that one should wash the filter socks before using them on the tank. I need to know how to wash the filter socks for the first time and then after they become dirty how do I clean them efficiently?
Thank you

I really don't know how others are doing it, but I'll state my routine.
I wait until I have a few dirty ones, and then put them into the washing machine on low/hot. NO DETERGENT. I wash them 4 times in a row. I've done it 3 times in a row once, but feel safe at 4. This is to make sure they're clean and free of any detergent residue's from laundry washings.

I bleach them in the washer BUT you must make sure that the bleach is out of the sock prior to exposing it back into the system. You must also be very careful not to get any laundry detergent on them as you are washing them in the washer. I am going to get away from this practice soon, it makes me leary of accidentally contaminating the tank. I am going to redesign the filter system on my 210.
