LOL. I know what you mean, I was just looking for some dry goods.
Sucks there are no decent shops in south OC, kind of surprised really. Lots of hobbyists down here. One can only drive out to Amazing Aquariums so often. |

I went to Deep Blue Aquariums yesterday and got these nice frags. Please excuse the crappy photo, the colors really pop in person. They have a great selection and the employees are knowledgeable and helpful. Looking forward to going back for more corals and fish. -Paul |

So, Allen's Aquarium over on Lincoln closed a couple of months ago. The old managers re-opened in West LA (at Medusa's old location). They don't have much in terms of corals but I was impressed with some of the fish they had in stock. At the very least it's a closer location for food and supplies for those of us on the west side.

Wait... This all happened on my bicycle path and I did not notice? Shows how long it's been since I went to Medusa. Last time, they only have one fish.

Wanted to update, I visited Deep Blue Aquarium and it was great. Hong is friendly and has a nice selection of sps, which is what I'm mainly into. So glad I don't have to travel that far now to get what I need! I would recommend.

Pricing is very reasonable. There's a $10 section that has a mixture of some sps, lps, and softies. Sometimes you can find some nice stuff in there. From there, it goes up to $25 for the nicer acro frags, and a little more for bigger pieces. I think it's worth it to stop by if you're into sps.

The $10 sections are really neat. Have not seen that since Tong's.

Where is a good place to buy some affordable snails to clean up some nuisance algae? I'm in the SGV.

I was in the area yesterday and stopped by. It is not closed, but also not what I would call nice. Last time I was in there was years ago and I thought it seemed nicer back then.

Ill take your word for it then, Google shows it closed, someone commented 5 months ago that it was closed but there's a 4 star comment from a month ago.

I just posted on their FB and they replied, saying they closed and moved out of state six months ago.
