I forgot to mention in my update that I did a 10 gallon WC on my 54 gallon tank at Day 7 and Day 14 since I have a canister filter and I wanted to clean out all the dead GHA and keep my nutrients down. I treated my WC water with the 20mg per gallon mix on each WC. I'm doing a 50% WC tomorrow (Day 21), letting my tank settle for a week, then re-dosing for a second treatment. I say I have 85-90% GHA die-off.

Bryo still gone. Dosed again to try and attack the little bit of GHA that had taken hold, and that seems to be melting away too. Everything else looks fan-freaking-tastic.

What was the result in your tank? nevermind, read the previous page

I noticed all my macro are melting away. some corals were not too happy. All hair algae, bubble and Bryopsis are gone. I only used half the recommended dose.

Wondering about coral affects

I've got hammer corals, candys, zoos, a nepthia, Lobo brains and a large toadstool leather will it harm any of these?

So where is everyone buying this product? Is it not a prescribed medication? Legal to buy online? I need to get my tank back from the outbreak I have been dealing with. Thanks!

Couple questions.

Is everyone really completely sterilizing their reactors and auto top off systems or simply taking them offline for a couple weeks?

Not much mention of effects on SPS in here? How did everyones sticks fare after treatment?

Just a quick update. Three months later and still not a sign of Bryo.

I think I am going to try this myself, but not really sure what kind of algae I have and if it will be affected.

If I could get the Fluco for the prices I have found online I would have NO problems just trying it out, but living in Norway, I have to pay roughly 20 USD for a single 150mg capsule :/
(Tried to buy from the various online sources listed in this and other threads, but they would not ship to Norway)

So... can any of you ID this stuff, and/or do you think the Fluco will help?
The area shown below had been "pruned" about a week before the photo. When left unchecked, it grows to a very thick mat. Dark green, very healthy looking. Max length I've seen it before I start pulling it out is about 3-4 inches. It started on a single rock (actually from a SPS’ frag plug :/ ), and has spread to small patches all over the tank (like the small patch in the photo) The large, original rock is 50% covered.

Vibrant did nothing. My foxface and tangs will not touch it.

Hey I came across this thread doing a search. I just took down a huge system and have a bunch of fluconazole left over, I'm selling them for $1 / 200mg with snail mail shipping at $0.50 if anyone is interested. It works great I just don't need a lifetime supply for my 30 gallon.

For what its worth, I called a local animal hospital and orderded 30 x 200mg pills for $60. No prescription needed and I just told them I was treating my fish tank. It was ready for pick up in two days but I'm guessing some might have it in stock.

I'm at 15 days, no issues except dead hair and bryopsis algae. My skimmer has been running since day 4. I'm not going to do anything special to remove it. I'll do my monthly water changes and see what happens. My only concern with this course of action is that the algae builds resistance. Maybe I should use carbon and get it out. On the other hand I was thinking of going with NOPOX or Vibrant on the next round if my CUC and GFO fail me.

I don't think that this is something algae will likely build resistance to. It will either fundamentally prevent it's growth or not. From my understanding - I could be wrong - it acts by inhibiting the formation of chemicals needed for the cell wall. Plants obviously need their cell wall, and I don't think it is likely that our algae will find a way around it.

That said, life finds a way.

I have a different algae strain now growing after several treatments with fluconozole. This appears to be resistant to fluconozole

You dose 20mg's of Fluconazole/gallon. You would need 2,000 mgs. If you get the 250mg capsules, you would need 8 of them.

I just dosed 5000mg in my system about 4 days ago. Nothing extremely noticeable yet. I’ll let everyone know how it goes.
