Whats in my NSW tub?

Brute 32G container is getting these brown "colonies" on the walls slowly over time. Use a mix of IO and RS Pro to get the params where I like. I might have read somewhere that it is a result of IO being well, IO. The brown is a thin film covering the walls then there are the clumps. Only using RODI water and there is a lid on the can. Thanks!

I use instant ocean reef crystals and it does the same. It's just the salt mix precipitating out some sediment crud.

What it is, good guess. We all get it when you have a mixing station(barrels not getting cleaned after you mix a batch). With that said, I only clean my mixing barrel about once a year. Whatever it is doesn't seem to affect anything in my tank.

I have switched to regular IO and it's no where near as bad as some of those specialty "reef salts".

^^^This^^^

I use both IO and RC. I, too, clean out my barrel maybe once a year. Been doing it that way for almost 30 years.

Normal..
Said to be an anti-caking agent added into the salt I believe
