MP40 falling off tank

I have 2 vortech MP40 power heads they are about 8yrs old. recently one has started to fall of the tank, like the magnet isn't working. I have emailed the company, but was wondering if anyone might know about this and what I might be able to do about it

My two MP's are supported by a sticky pad and a tie wrap. I have seen people with them on their tanks with no supports, but then complain when someone knocks it off. If it still works fine then just support it as shown in the users manual.

I am going to do that, but no one is knocking it off, just seems strange that now this is a problem after about 8yrs of being okay

More than likely the wetside is getting sloppy. Probably time for a new wetside.

Have you cleaned it recently?

I have supported it with sticky pad and tie wrap, and I have cleaned it and It is still pulling apart, just not falling on the floor now. tkeracer619, what do you mean by replacing the wet side, you mean like the impeller and all that? or just the sponge like film sticker like thing on the back of the impeller that goes against the glass

The same thing happened to my 6-year-old MP40. I did everything suggested by Ecotech but the dry side kept sliding down. I sent the pump to Ecotech Marine for repair and when I got it back, the problem was solved. I was never told what the problem was but the pump is working fine now.

I have swapped out the wet side with the one I was not having a problem with and I am still getting an unattachment of the pump, so guess I will see about sending the pump back to ecotech

Can’t tell from the pic on my phone but is this the QD series pump ? Are you using the proper spacer for it ? Also try spinning the wet side when it’s not attached, does it spin freely? If not it can cause the sides to separate
